DEAD OR ALIVE

A young man was at Manchester University and living in a shared house with some other students. The students were all getting ready to go to the first big party of the year and the young man was rushing around like a maniac. He was refilling his lighter with gas when a freak spark caused it to explode in his face. Although he wasn't harmed, the ball of fire had scorched his fringe and the young man ran to the bathroom to douse his hair. The older students had got impatient waiting for their friend, so they went up to his room to hurry him along. When they entered, all they saw was a cloud of smoke and a tuft of burnt hair on the floor. They all jumped to the conclusion that their friend had spontaneously combusted. Meanwhile, the young man had washed his hair and when he didn't see his housemates waiting downstairs, decided that they had left without him and ran out the door after them. His housemates stayed in to mourn their friend's mysterious combustion. The young man returned later that night, very much alive and drunkenly merry. Needless to say, when he said, "Wow, what a great party. What happened to you guys?", they lynched him.
