MISFORTUNE OF THE MANUSCRIPT
A French writer had been sweating for years over a piece of writing which had
taken eight years to research. During that time the writer had neglected his wife
and ruined his social life by devoting all his time to the project. In order to
safeguard the precious manuscript he gave it to his wife for her to photocopy.
Unfortunately his wife, in a bizarre twist of fate, mistook the paper-shredder
for the photocopying machine and every page of the manuscript ended up as scraps
of paper. There was nothing for it but for the writer to start all over again.
