MOOSE ON THE LOOSE

Police investigating a hit-and-run accident arrived at the scene of the crime to find a 13-year-old boy and a middle-aged man. Both seemed in a state of distress. When questioned as to what had happened, both witnesses provided statements that the officers found hard to believe. Apparently, the boy had been riding the moped (illegally) when a moose ran out in front of him. The frightened creature leapt into the air and came back down with a crash on the back seat of the moped, knocking the boy off it at the same time. The moped, now being "driven" by the moose, carried on a little way down the .road before crashing out of control into an oncoming car. The moose chose this moment to make its getaway. The driver of the car, who ended up with a damaged pelvis, was able to confirm the boy's story (at least the bit about the moose riding the moped). The police officers had little choice but to file a report detailing a hit-and-run accident involving a moped being driven in a dangerous fashion by a moose.
