RESTRICTIVE TROUSERS
A boy from Amsterdam had just passed his test to drive a motorbike and his
parents had given him a 250cc bike as a reward. The boy had always dreamt of becoming
a biker and he used his savings to buy all the gear - boots, helmet, leather jacket,
leather trousers and gloves. None of the shops had his size in leather trousers,
but, unable to wait, he bought a larger pair with the idea that he could shrink
them. When he got home, he ran a bath and got in still wearing the trousers. Unfortunately,
he fell asleep -when he woke up, he was in agony. The leather trousers had shrunk
so much, that they had restricted the boy's blood circulation. His mother took
him to hospital where they cut the leather trousers away and, finding that the
prolonged restriction of blood supply had caused permanent damage, they also had
to amputate his legs. The boy's dream of being a cool biker was never to be, but
he did have fun racing around in his wheelchair.
