SELF POISON
A man from Tokyo was on the fifth day of a golfing holiday when he suddenly
collapsed and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. The examining doctor
eventually diagnosed the man as being poisoned and informed the police of the
incident. The detective in charge of the case questioned the man, but could think
of no reason why anybody would like to poison him. The detective continued to
ask the man questions and eventually was able to deduce that the man had unwittingly
poisoned himself. The golfer had the habit of holding the tee between his teeth
after teeing off on each hole. The golf course had been heavily sprayed with pesticide,
so every time the man took the tee in his mouth, he ingested a small amount of
toxic pesticide. Eventually, he poisoned himself.
