SHAKY STONE
An electrician who had been hired by his local council to maintain and repair
the boroughs street lights ended up in hospital after a well-intentioned passer-by
attempted to save him from what appeared to be certain death. While the electrician
was high up a ladder trying to rewire one of the street lights, he became bothered
by a stone in his shoe. Rather than take the shoe off, he attempted to move the
stone by shaking his leg vigorously. A pensioner who was out walking his dog at
the time happened to be looking up at the electrician when he did this. Imagining
that the poor man's shaking leg was the result of a convulsion brought on by a
huge shock of electricity from the street lamp, he did what any sensible person
would do and attempted to free the victim from the source of the shock. Unfortunately,
this involved kicking the ladder out from under the electrician, an action which
resulted in two broken legs and several months off work.
