UNLUCKY DRIVER
Fire-fighters in New Zealand were puzzled to find the charred body of a man
amongst the debris of a recent forest fire. Quite why he was wearing a full scuba-diving
outfit in the middle of a forest fire some 30 miles inland was far from clear...
Once the man was identified and it was determined where he had been diving, it
didn't take long for investigators to come up with the answer. Fire-fighters had
used helicopters equipped with huge scoops to collect water from the Tasman sea
32 miles away, which they dumped from a safe height on to the raging inferno.
A very unlucky scuba-diver, happily gazing at schools of fish, must have been
quite surprised to be suddenly scooped from the depths, taken to the heavens and
then released - only to plummet to a fiery death.
