EARWIGS
Although this classic urban myth cannot possibly be true, it has horrified
more than enough people. A French woman, who had just returned from a week-long
camping trip in the countryside, consulted a doctor about a terrible earache she
had. On examining her, the doctor discovered that an earwig had crawled inside
the woman's ear. He told her that he couldn't reach the earwig and it would be
best to wait for it to come out the other side. A week later, the woman called
on the doctor to thank him as the earwig had indeed come out the other ear. To
be on the safe side, the doctor re-examined her ears. After the examination, the
doctor told the woman, "Unfortunately, the earwig has laid eggs in your head and
when they hatch, they'll slowly eat your brain. I'm afraid there's nothing that
can be done."
