FIRST IMPRESSIONS
In Waterford, Ireland, a local priest was making the usual rounds of his parish.
A family had just moved into the area and the priest was eager to make a good
first impression to welcome them. As the priest approached the family's house,
he noticed a large, playful dog in the front garden and gave it a friendly pat.
When the woman of the house invited the priest inside, the dog followed him in.
The priest was shown into the lounge where the father and their three children
were sitting. The priest attempted to make polite conversation, but was thwarted
by the dog's antics. The dog smelled like it hadn't been washed in months, tracked
mud all over the carpet and furniture and gobbled up some biscuits that the mother
had thoughtfully provided. The priest decided it might be best to leave before
the dog becomes even more embarrassing. As he headed towards the door, the mother
remarked coldly, "Don't forget your dog, Father." "My dog?" the priest exclaimed,
"Isn't he yours?!"
