RABBIT RETURNS
A man living in the suburban outskirts of London was used to his dog digging
up old bones and objects and bringing them into the house, but he was most upset
when his dog brought in the neighbour's pet rabbit looking very limp and, as it
turns out, very dead. His neighbours had gone on holiday for a week and, not feeling
able to face the prospect of confessing his dog's misdemeanour, he sneaked into
their back garden and replaced the lifeless rabbit in its hutch. A few days after
the neighbours returned, he bumped into the husband and after several pleasantries,
he discreetly asked after the rabbit. "Funny thing that," said his neighbour,
"our rabbit died just before we went away and we buried it in the garden, but
when we got back some sick joker had dug it up and put it back in its hutch!"
