SQUASHED DOG

In Florence, Italy, a young man thought he had struck gold when a girl from a rich family invited him round to meet her parents. The boy dressed up in his best suit and arrived early to make a good impression. The young man could hardly contain his excitement when he saw the family's huge mansion. The door was answered by a butler, who showed him into a room and told him to make himself comfortable. Spotting a sumptuous leather armchair, the boy leaped into it, only to hear a loud series of cracks. The young man quickly got up to see what had made the sound. His worse fears were substantiated when he discovered he had sat on the family Pekinese dog and broken its neck. Not knowing what else to do, the young man hid the dead dog under the leaves of a large pot plant and ran off.
