THE CAT

In Chichester, England, an old lady called the fire brigade when her cat got stuck up a tall tree and wouldn't come down. As there was a strike on at the time, a group of volunteers turned up in the fire engine. Although this was the first cat they had had to rescue, they managed it without mishap and the old lady made them all a cup of tea as a way of thanks. When the volunteers went to drive off, however, they didn't see the cat under the wheels of the fire engine and they ran over the poor moggy.
