THE PAINTING DOG
In Zurich, Switzerland, a teenage boy took his father's car without permission
and crashed it. For some months the father's mother had been asking her grandson
if he could paint her lounge and the father saw this as an appropriate punishment
for his son. Consequently, the following weekend the father left his son at his
mother's house with a can of yellow paint and a paintbrush. The son went about
the task with an enthusiastic relish and finished quite quickly. He stepped back
to admire the work, but kicked die can of paint all over a priceless Persian rug.
The boy knew he would be in an enormous amount of trouble, but just then he heard
the yapping of his grandmother's Chihuahua. He grabbed the dog and dropped her
in the middle of the spilt paint while shouting loudly, "Oh, no! You bad, bad
dog!" The boy got away with the deed, but the grandmother punished her dog by
not feeding it for three days.
