A STUPID MAN
A desperate man in England decided to rob a bank, so he went into a branch
of Barclays and, like all polite bank robbers, joined the queue. In order to be
a bit more discrete when making his demands, he took one of the counterfoils and
wrote on it: "Dis iz a stickup. Put all the money in the bag." Then, worried that
he might have been spotted writing the note, he panicked and left the bank. Spotting
a branch of rival bank Lloyds across die road, he decided to try his luck there.
Again, he joined the queue and eventually handed his note to the cashier. The
cashier read the note and although alarmed, she realised from the bad spelling
that the man probably wasn't very bright. She returned the note to him, saying
sternly: "I'm afraid we can't accept this, sir, it's written on a Barclays Bank
counterfoil." Unsure of himself, the man left Lloyds, returning to the branch
of Barclays - where he was waiting patiently in the queue when the police, alerted
by the Lloyds cashier, arrived to arrest him.
