A WHOLE LOT OF POOH

When someone says that the shit hit the fan, they are not usually talking about a rapid interaction between turd and twirly thing. For the occupants of a court in Sri Lanka, however, the term for once was very close to the truth. During the trial of a man accused of the disappointingly mundane crime of stealing gas pipes from his employer, the accused kept trying to draw the judge's attention to the brutal treatment he had received at the hands of the police. As is usually the case in these situations, the judge refused to believe that the police were capable of such things. Having failed to get the judge to take him seriously, the defendant pulled out a turd-filled plastic bag and attempted to throw it at a group of police officers who were sitting in the court. Unfortunately, he missed. The resulting shit hitting the fan incident showered the entire court in inadmissible evidence and the case had to be delayed. The defendant was later charged with insulting the dignity of the court.
