COLD MONEY

A couple living in London, England consistently missed paying their electricity bill on time, and as a result were eventually forced by the power company to install a slot meter in their flat. As the woman was a specialist at making moulds, she made a set of moulds from a fifty pence piece the coin used in the meter. By filling the moulds with water and placing them in the freezer, the couple found that within a few hours, they could make pieces of ice that would be accepted as valid coins by the meter. The plan worked successfully for a couple of months, but came to an end when a representative from the electricity company arrived to empty the meter only to find that it was full of water.
