CONVENIENCE THIEF
In Bucharest, Romania, police were quite concerned about a spate of thefts
from public toilets. They had had several reports from embarrassed gentlemen,
who said that while they were using the lavatories, they suddenly saw a pair of
hands dart under the door and grab their feet. The mysterious assailant would
then make off with their shoes. Surveillance of various public toilets failed
to catch the thief, so a policeman was sent undercover. The policeman caught a
number of drug dealers and sex offenders before finally nabbing the shoe thief
by wearing a pair of 18-hole army boots. The unfortunate thief took so long trying
to untie the laces that the policeman had quietly radioed for backup and had him
arrested.
