GAS INCIDENT

A man, who lived in Hong Kong, was convicted of manslaughter after a failed suicide went horribly wrong. Following several other failed attempts, the man put his head in an oven and tried to gas himself. Unfortunately, a concerned neighbour popped round with a lit cigarette, causing a huge explosion which destroyed the whole apartment block and killed nine people. Miraculously, the man survived with minor burns, apparently because the oven shielded him from the collapsing building.
