SLEEP DREAMS....
An American man, on trial for the murder of his wife, had the most unusual
defence. He claimed he was sleepwalking and had no knowledge of his actions. However,
when the jury heard the cases against him, they thought his game was up. His wife
had been stabbed 40 times and when he was found he had even managed to bandage
several cuts on his hands and dispose of his clothes. He had also been seen by
several witnesses attempting to drown his wife in the swimming pool in the back
garden. The man's lawyer calmly called to the stand an expert on sleepwalking.
On hearing the evidence, the expert stated simply that this was all possible while
sleepwalking. The courts can expect a surge in cases of crimes committed while
sleepwalking.
