ADDITIONAL BITS AND BOBS
A taxi driver in China was quite rightly proud of his boast that he had never
had a reason to visit a doctor in his life. Unfortunately for him, not long after
making this claim, he was struck down with severe stomach pains. Unwilling to
break his record, he refused to visit his doctor until things became so bad that
he was unable to sleep at night and was spending much of the day doubled over
in pain. Finally, after constant nagging by family and friends, he went and made
first contact with the medical profession. During the initial consultation, the
doctor was unable to find anything wrong with the taxi driver and so sent him
off to hospital for X-rays. It was then that the cause of his problem was discovered.
The cab driver had been blessed at birth with four kidneys double the usual number
and as a result his intestines had become loaded to breaking point.
