CHRISTIAN BELIEFS
Students studying for a Theology degree arrived at their final exam to find
a note on the door saying that the examination would take place in a room on the
other side of the campus. The students all rushed to the other room to find a
bedraggled fellow blocking the doorway and begging for money. All the students
except one barged by the fellow and took their seats. The one student chatted
to the beggar and then gave him £1, before taking his seat. After the exam was
over, the students discussed the questions they had been asked and all seemed
quite satisfied that they must have passed, but when they received the results,
they were shocked to discover that all but one of diem had failed. Confronting
their professor, the students were told that they failed because they had ignored
the beggar at the door and in so doing confirmed their disregard for Christian
virtue. The one student who had demonstrated Christian charity became a very popular
priest. The others apparently became politicians, lawyers and advertising executives.
