COMEDY
The Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, England, staged a production of
William Shakespeare's play Richard III. In the final act, the actor playing Richard
III exclaims in a booming voice the famous line: "A horse, a horse! My kingdom
for a horse!" One evening, a man in the audience decided to comment: "'Ere, mate,
I've got a horse". There were a few titters in the audience, when the actor replied:
"I asked for a horse, not an ass!" This quick ad-lib brought the house down and
the production was an overwhelming success.
