MOVING BED COVER
An old lady from Tirana, Albania, was not looking forward to the winter months,
so was delighted when she found a cheap, down bedcover in her local market. She
took it home and spread it over her bed. When she looked into her bedroom later,
she was mystified to see that the bedcover had fallen off the bed, but she just
shrugged and threw it back over the bed. That night, the old lady got into bed
and looked forward to a warm night under her new bedcover. However, in the middle
of the night, she woke up shivering and saw that, again, the bedcover had fallen
to the floor. Curious, the old lady got out a pair of scissors and carefully cut
open the quilt. She was disgusted to discover that the feathers used to fill the
bedcover had not been washed and were stained with blood. On closer inspection,
the old lady was horrified to see hundreds of maggots all over the feathers. Obviously,
the wriggling maggots had kept causing the bedcover to fall of the bed. The poor
old lady burnt the bedcover and had a cold, harsh, sleepless winter.
