UNUSUAL ARTICLES
The staff at a museum of natural history were amused when a young boy sent
them some of the objects he had found in his parents' back garden. They felt compelled,
however, to write to the boy to explain to him that he had not, in fact, discovered
anything that would be of real interest to them. Of the tiny human skull he had
discovered they wrote that, to the best of their knowledge, prehistoric man did
not play with Barbie dolls and that ancient relics of this sort are usually made
of bone, not plastic. They were, however, particularly impressed with the bone
he had found which had, he claimed, once belonged to a junior Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Unfortunately, after close investigation and a quick polish, they were sorry to
report that he had in fact discovered the remains of an adjustable spanner. They
finished by thanking him for his efforts and urging him to carry on his important
work.
