WITHOUT A LIMB

Japanese couple on holiday in New York went to eat in a well-known restaurant in lower Manhattan. They had both finished the meal when the woman told her husband that she would go to the bathroom before they left. The man paid their bill and waited for his wife to return. However, after 30 minutes, he became concerned and asked a waitress to check on his wife. The waitress returned to say the toilets were empty. The man looked in the toilets himself and then looked all over the restaurant, but there was no sign of his wife. The police were called in, but after weeks of investigation, there was no clue as to what had happened to the man's wife and he was forced to abandon the search and return to Japan. Two years later, a friend of the man phoned him. He had just returned from a trip to Bangkok and he had seen his wife performing at a freak show there. The husband couldn't believe his ears and asked his friend how his wife could possibly be in such a show. His friend sadly explained that her arms and legs had been amputated.
