JUST DRIVE

A man studying at Southampton University in England decided to save money by hitchhiking home for Christmas. The student wasn't having much luck, possibly because of his unwashed, unshaven and unkempt appearance, but eventually a car stopped at a junction and he leapt in. The old woman driving asked where he was going, but she wouldn't be drawn into conversation after that, so the student passed the time counting the number of cars that overtook them. On reaching London, the student was surprised when the old lady asked him directions to his house. Pleased to be saving yet more money by not having to take the tube, the student directed her to his house. On reaching his house, he thanked the woman for the lift, whereupon she replied: "Lift? I thought you had taken me hostage!"
