ADDICTED TO TV

A 12-year-old boy watched the film Poltergeist at a friend's house and was unduly influenced by its content. One night, his mother found him sitting in front of the television after transmissions had finished for the day staring at the "snow". However, any attempt to remove him from the television and put him to bed, ended up with the boy in hysterics. This went on for a few nights and the parents had no idea what to do. They asked their friends and one of them suggested they put a radio transmitter in the television set and try talking to him through that. The parents did just that and, putting on a ghostly voice, the father talked to the boy. They were delighted when the boy responded. When the father told his son to go to bed, they were even more delighted when he obeyed. It became a nightly ritual and the parents found life became a lot easier for them, because anything they asked of their son, he would do. He got up for school without complaint, helped make meals, did all his homework and all his chores, as long as they told him to do things through the television.
