HUNTING FOR A BARGAIN

A man scouring the Items For Sale section of his local newspaper was amazed to see a brand-new BMW car described as being in perfect condition and on offer for the unbelievably low price of £50. Assuming that this must be a misprint, the man immediately called the number, but the woman who answered confirmed that the price was indeed correct. The man promised that he would be there as soon as he could and asked for the address. At the house, a woman answered the door and showed him the car - he could see no obvious problems. After taking the car for a test-drive it was even clearer that the car was in excellent condition throughout. Very pleased with it, he again asked the woman if the price was really £50. It was. Handing over the money, he acquired the necessary papers and the keys, but decided he couldn't leave without knowing why she was selling it so cheaply. She explained matter-of-factly that her husband had left her for another woman a week ago and had told her to sell his car and belongings and forward the proceeds. The man was about to drive off in his new car, when the woman asked him if he'd be interested in buying her husband's almost-new stereo system for ten pounds...
