PRIVATE LETTER

A victim of a rape attack was testifying in court against her attacker. The prosecutor asked the woman to describe what the attacker had done to her, but she quite naturally became upset - so the judge suggested that she write her answer down for the jury to read, rather than say it out loud in court. The written statement was handed to the jury and each member read it in turn. When one of the jurors, a pretty young woman, finished reading it she nudged the male juror next to her, who had fallen asleep, and passed him the statement. The puzzled juror read it, looked at the woman who passed it to him, turned a bright shade of red and hastily put the note in his shirt pocket. The man looked around and suddenly realised that everybody in the courtroom was staring at him. After a few moments of embarrassed silence, the judge told the man to pass the note to the next juror. The startled man responded: "Please, sir, this is private. You really wouldn't be interested."
